About NATO

The National Association of Tobacco Outlets, Inc. (NATO) is a national trade association organized to prottect and enhance the common business interests of all tobacco and nicotine retailers and to monitor and assist members in responding to tobacco and nicotine-related legislation on the local, state, and federal levels.

The association recognizes the need for and strongly encourages all of its members to uphold and abide by the highest professional standards when serving the adult public and to act in a manner that complies with all local, state, and federal tobacco and nicotine-related laws and regulations.

About NATO

Seek the improvement of business conditions for retailers located throughout the United States of America that sell tobacco and nicotine products.

Take a pro-active position that informs and educates elected officials on the local, state, and/or national levels about the impact that proposed legislation and regulations would have on tobacco and nicotine retailers.

Provide information to association members about local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding the sale, advertising, promotion, and regulation.

Protect the rights of tobacco and nicotine retailers to advertise, promote, and sell legal tobacco and nicotine products.

Assist association members in responding to proposed local, state, and federal legislation and regulations that may impact the sale, advertising, promotion, regulation, and taxation of tobacco and nicotine products.

Conduct education seminars to inform retailers about laws and regulations that affect the tobacco and nicotine industry and to provide industry updates on current issues.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
This committee reviews and acts upon legislative issues that impact NATO members.

CONSULTANT SERVICES COMMITTEE
Reviews contracts and scope of services for NATO Consultants.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
This committee focuses on different means to encourage all retailers that sell tobacco and nicotine products, as well as wholesalers and manufacturers, to join NATO.

BY-LAWS AND GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE
This committee reviews and recommends changes to the NATO by-laws and governing documents.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
This committee plans the annual NATO budget and oversees the association’s finances.

EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE
This committee plans NATO’s regional education seminars held several times throughout the year to bring timely industry information to association members.

STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
The Strategic Planning Committee’s focus is to plan for NATO’s future and how to focus the association’s efforts for longterm strategies and goals.
